For parents, figuring out what their babies' cries mean can add an extra layer of challenge to the myriad responsibilities that come with parenthood. But a new baby monitor is aiming to ease this struggle. The Maxi-Cosi See Pro 360° Baby Monitor comes equipped with CryAssist technology, powered by artificial intelligence, with promises to bridge the communication gap between parents and infants.
This baby monitor stands out from traditional smart monitors by not just detecting cries but using AI to interpret them, providing caregivers with a better understanding of their child's needs. According to the manufacturer, the AI can distinguish whether the baby is sleepy, fussy, gassy, agitated, or hungry. This innovation allows parents to remotely monitor their infants through a 5-inch display with two-way talk and MicroSD card recording, or via their smartphones.
The AI behind CryAssist was developed by Zoundream, leveraging the capabilities of artificial intelligence and machine learning. The system drew insights from over 100,000 hours of crying baby recordings and various data inputs. The Acoustic MultiStage Interpreter continuously analyzes ambient sounds using multi-stage, deep-learning models to decode the meaning behind babies' cries. The technology boasts an impressive cry detection accuracy just shy of 90% and a cry translation accuracy exceeding 90%.
Aside from its advanced features, the See Pro 360° also incorporates standard baby monitor functions. It is available for purchase starting at $199 (£157.35), offering parents a promising tool to better understand and respond to their baby's needs.
